Swan started as a mistranslation of a recording of a madrigal, sent to me by artist Sarah Boulton who is based near the west coast of Scotland. I set Sarah’s words for choir (SSAATTBB) with cello. Swan was premiered by Fenham Ensemble and cellist Gabriel Waite in March 2023, in Newcastle, conducted by Simon Davies-Fidler.
